Process of Elimination

So, yesterday was my interview for the 911 position. It was a three hour session unlike any I have ever experienced. They broke the main group in four smaller groups and each group had 4 different classrooms to visit. The first was information on the actual job and benefits (which I would LOVE to have). The next was problem solving. We were given a handout with a specific scenario where we would have to make a life or death decision. The next was interviewing each other, which was actually kind of fun. And the fourth was an oral presentation. The last bit, the handed out a sheet and had us select one individual from the group that we thought we could work with. It was actually a very cool experience. I know at least two of the eight people in my group selected me….so I guess that is a good sign.

There is another round of interviews for next Saturday. I guess there are still more than 120 candidates…for 15 positions. Please keep your fingers crossed that I get this job……it is just a process of elimination at this point. I think the people who showed up in jeans, and a few minutes late….well…..I don’t believe that their chances are all that great to make it to the next round.

Grandma is back in the hospital with an elevated white blood cell count, so she has some kind of infection that they are having some difficulty getting a handle on. Her mind is slipping quickly and has pretty much been diagnosed with dementia. It is a sad slow end. I have had my issues with my grandmother that I have not chosen to share on my blog but it had to do with what she allowed to have happen to my father when he was growing up. It is a very emotion issue. My dad is coping well. He feels that he lost his mother a long time ago. What is left is the shell of his mother.

I am very excited to announce that I have Phillies tickets again. We are sitting in section 105, row 2….that means I will be able to see Jayson Werth‘s very adorable buns at close range. Someday, I will consider getting seats somewhere else inside of Citizen’s Bank Park, but until they trade Jayson, I’m not moving.

As I write this, D is outside fighting with the fence.  I just painted M’s toe and fingernails, and D is off doing his own thing.  He seems to be fascinated with clothes hangers this week….hmmmm.

So it is Monday again.  Finally, after 4 days of rain and wind, we have some sunshine.  I also have my house back.  The hubby had been off work since Thursday….and honestly, was starting to bug the crap out of me.  I know that he can’t help “ordering me around” and “instructing me on how to care for the children”…it’s the 24 years of army in him.  But sheesh….what does he think I do all day?

We are getting more and more interested in the potty….we are also increasing our vocabulary by leaps and bounds.  That means they can say poop…and crack up laughing hysterically.

Melissa loves to dance.  Daniel loves to spin and get dizzy and fall down.  It’s a real show around here some days.

I know that my challenges have just really begun…I mean the “terrible twos” challenge.  I am still not sure how I am going to deal with it….I guess I just have to take it one day at a time.  That is, if I can keep my brain from melting from Sesame Street and Barney overload.  Elmo is a demi god in this house…..It is Elmo on demand all day….

My Philadelphia Phillies kicked some L.A. Dodger hiney last night….of course, I was too tired to actually watch it.  I did get to see my boy, Jayson Werth hit his dinger……so that made up for an otherwise crappy day.  I don’t even want to talk about the Philadelphia Eagles performance against the Raiders.

But I am alive.   All plans for going back to school are on hold.  I am treading water even with my parents being so close by.  Just maintaining the house, the laundry, the kids, the dogs, the shopping….well…..it’s enough for me.  What was I thinking considering taking a part time job?

And we got our new shed….about 6 weeks ago, my mother drove into our shed and totalled it.  So, her auto insurance covered a new shed.  It was delivered on Thursday.  Now, the hubby should have his little man cave to keep all his tools and crap in.

But that is my life….very boring, very routine-driven.  Very tiring, but some days, very rewarding.

Sorry I have been so remiss in posting but things aren’t really all that exciting around here.

We had a great time at the Phillies game last Saturday night.  Ryan Howard hit a grand slam home-run right over our seats.  They were way over our seats as we were in the first level and the ball ended up 475 ft from the plate on the third level.

We were indeed very close to Jayson Werth.  We also got to see Cole Hamels warm up.  I got some great pictures that I can drool over at my leisure.  The important thing is that the Phillie won, and have continued a 7 game winning streak and are in first place (4 games ahead of the Mets…hahahhahahaha!)

I started taking the kids back to the gym with me.  Mt parents are going to be away alot this summer.  They leave Sunday to go to my sister’s house in Massachusetts for 2 weeks.  Then they go back in July, then to Maine in August….blah blah blah….they are retired and they can finally choose where they want to go and stay as long as they like.

My parent’s trip will however put a damper on my childcare situation, thus the return to the day care at the gym.

What else is new? Hmmm…..well, the garden is growing.  We harvested several radishes.  And learned a very good lesson.  When you use the peat cups to start the seeds, take the wrapper off the cup before planting them.  We have radishes,,,,they are just long and skinny radishes.  Lesson learned.  The peas are growing like gang busters, the onions are hanging in there as well.  As for the cucumbers, we;;, we will just take a moment of silence for the cucumbers.  I may have one cauliflower plant the survived, it just isn’t doing much.  We shall see.

The kids are okay.  The hate the baby jail now and just want to run all over the house.  Daniel is a hair puller.  If he is made to be in jail with his sister, he will pull her hair.  If they aren’t in jail, he leaves her alone.  I think he may be rebelling.

Melissa has become interested in the potty.  She watched me go and started pulling down her pants and diaper.  So…I think this may be her way of telling me that I need to get the pink princess potty set up.  Daniel…..not a chance.

The kids also love running in the yard and going for a ride in their new wagon.  Today it is really pretty crappy out, so there will be none of that.

Should be a pretty quiet weekend around here……hopefully……
